Pulse and Haze

Hello homestuck fandom, I'm new. For a long time now, I've stayed by the sidelines and enjoyed this chaos from a safe distance. But I knew that someday my time would come, and I would have no choice but to contribute my own work to this wonderful thing that they call internet.

Long, long overdue picture for my great friend ~KonataSong. Not only as a part of our long-going gift exchange, but also as a thank you for second chances, your patience with me and for always being there. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Now for the artist's opinion, I am somewhat happy with this. I do like the semi- lineless style, definitely be ready for more of this in the future. But man, who holds their arms like that? I certainly don't. And his expression is kind of goofy, somewhere inbetween mild irritation and wanna-be anger. I wasn't really going for either of these, but I guess it looks alright. For a beginner's attempt, I think I scored pretty good.

I am also new to the Art of Drawing Peopletrolls, or even people in general. This is something drastically different from what I am used to, and I would greatly appreciate critiques! Be nice please, I have very little experience with this kind of thing and probably will become involuntarily offended, much as I hate to admit.

This picture literally took me months, and I went through about 6 different sketches. I am an easily frustrated person, and quickly would become fed up with my current work and start over. Needless to say, I became caught in this cycle of sketch and toss for a while, until last week when I decided to finally give it my all and draw something without giving up half way through. But the story behind this picture is one for another day. Just know that this would not be finished without the help of all _two of my art programs. The quality steadily grew worse as I switched from PS to SAI, and I had to edit Karkat on a flattened image. Boy was that fun.

Anyways, I hope you like it! Part one of two, I swear the next won't take nearly as long because I have it all planned out. I wish I had a song to go along with this, but I'm afraid that I don't. In the meantime, I've been looking for this song for a while and wanted to share my victory. [link]
